How to create a URL QR code
A URL QR code is the most common type there is: scan it and the phone opens your web page. It is perfect for bridging print and digital — a poster, a menu, a business card or product packaging that sends people straight to the right link without typing.
- Paste your link. Enter the full address including https:// — the live preview updates as you type.
- Style it (optional). Match your brand colours, choose a dot and corner shape, and drop your logo into the centre.
- Set error correction. If you add a logo, switch error correction to High so the code stays reliable.
- Download. Grab PNG for screens, JPEG for smaller files, or SVG for crisp printing at any size.
Where URL QR codes are used
Restaurants link to digital menus; shops link to product pages or reviews; event posters link to ticket pages; packaging links to how-to videos or registration. Because the destination is a normal web page, a URL code is the Swiss-army option — anything you can put on the web, you can put behind a scan.
Getting reliable scans
- Keep the code darker than its background — dark-on-light scans best.
- Print at 2 × 2 cm or larger for close range; bigger for distance.
- Leave the quiet-zone margin around the code intact — don't crop it.
- Test the printed artwork on both an iPhone and an Android before a full run.
URL QR code FAQ
How do I make a QR code for a website link?
Paste your full web address (starting with https://) into the box above. The preview builds instantly — then adjust the colours or add a logo and download as PNG, SVG or JPEG. There is no account to create and no watermark.
Will the QR code still work if I change my website later?
The code points to whatever address you entered, so it keeps working as long as that URL stays live. If you move the page to a new address, generate a fresh code — these are static codes, so the link is baked in and cannot be edited after download.
Can I add my logo to the URL QR code?
Yes. Open the design section, upload a PNG, JPG or SVG logo and it sits in the centre of the code. Keep error correction on High so the code stays reliably scannable with the logo in place.
Is there a limit on scans or a tracking dashboard?
No. This is a static QR code with no server behind it, so scans are unlimited and free forever. There is also no tracking — if you need scan analytics you would need a dynamic code from a paid provider.
What size should I download for printing?
Use SVG for print — it is a vector that scales to any size without blurring. For digital use, PNG at 1024px suits documents and 512px suits websites.
